Your Government Gateway User ID is the key to accessing all of HMRC's online services. If you've lost or forgotten it, here's how you can recover it.Your Government Gateway ID is a 12-digit number that you create when you first sign up for HMRC's online services. It's easy to forget, but also easy to find.
How to Recover Your User ID
- Go to the Government Gateway login page.
- Click the link that says "I have forgotten my Government Gateway ID".
- You will be asked for the email address you used when you originally registered.
- HMRC will then send an email to that address containing your 12-digit User ID.
If you no longer have access to that email address, you may need to go through additional security questions or set up a new account.
