Who needs to file under MTD?

£50,000+ from April 2026
If your annual self-employment or property income is £50,000 or more, you’ll need to follow MTD rules from April 2026.

£30,000+ from April 2027
Those earning between £30,000 and £50,000 will join Making Tax Digital one year later, from April 2027.

£20,000+ from April 2028
MTD will extend to self-employed individuals and landlords earning £20,000 or more from April 2028.
